I was kind of hoping for the same thing. But then george made the mistake of choosing political sides when writing his script. In night, dawn and day, there was commentary, but it was more social than political. But with Land, George drew a rightwing/leftwing line in the sand, coming down firmly on the leftwing side. The film missed an opportunity to metaphorically sympathise with the terrorists or blame America first. Nearly every interview he did for the film became a diatribe against conservatives, which in typical leftwing fasion, was little more than disguised hate speech. Before this movie was ever released, George had managed to offend at least 1/2 of the movie going public. When you are trying to mass market a movie, its probably a good idea to avoid insulting 100 million potential paying customers.
